Capuchins are the #1 primate for in-home companion and service animals.
So, you have made a good choice of specific species of primate that you
desire.
I breed the species, Black & White, Browns, (i.e.:
Black-capped,
Wedge-capped, Weeper, & Tufted), Cinnamon, and the rare, Libidinosus. The
Browns seem to be the most popular, whether it be the price or because of
their intelligence, who knows. The Black & Whites are certainly the
prettiest.
I am sure that 'price' is at the top of your list of
questions; so,
let me tell you that aspect first. All Browns, (i.e.: Tufted, Black-capped,
Wedge-capped, Weepers): Males - $5,500. / Females - $6,500. Black &
Whites: Males - $6,500. / Females - $7,500. Cinnamons: Males - $6,500. /
Females - $7,500. Libidinosus, (rare): Males - $7,000. / Females -
$8,000. I am in Chesapeake, VA. Shipping, by air, usually costs between
$285. - $325. Shipping includes: The trip to the Vet for a Health
Certificate, the airline crate, transport to the airport, and air fare to
you. (Transportation of any animal purchase is the responsibility of the
Buyer. If I am able to facilitate and expedite your Capuchin infant to you,
I am more than happy to accommodate.)
So far as the price of my primates, I haven't changed my prices
in
several years. However, allow me to let you in on a little secret . . . if
legislature has its' way, the general public will not be able to own an
in-home companion primate as a pet in the future. Prices will only continue
to increase as that deadline draws near.
If you want an infant soon, I would suggest sending a deposit to place
you on a 'notification' list. I never took deposits before just recently.
What has caused me to do so is this: Too many of the same weekly inquirers
loosing-out on their infant desire and request, because someone else called
in the meantime, when an infant happened to be born, and transferred money
immediately, thereby beating-out the people that have called and called and
called. I use to just maintain a list of persons strongly suggesting their
desire of wanting an infant Capuchin. Then, when an infant was born, I
would call or e-mail every person on that list. The first one to actually
send their deposit or payment-in-full got the baby. You can imagine the
number of persons that were disappointed and upset with me. So, after 21
years, I have begun taking deposit, for infant primates. Send no more than
you are willing to forfeit, should you change your mind; (I suggest $250.).
You may send this deposit in regular personal check form; (that gives you
the opportunity to change your mind). When your name reaches the top of the
list; and, the next Capuchin infant born is to be yours, I will telephone or
e-mail you. At that time, it is your decision as to whether the time is
right for you, and accept the infant offered, or pass on it. I will then
move-on and notify the next deposit on the list. You do not forfeit your
deposit, I will simply notify you when the next Capuchin infant is born;
and, once again, you will have the first right of accepting or again
passing.
Your deposit is non-refundable. My responsibility and
obligation to
you, as a client, is to provide a healthy infant Capuchin. I am USDA
licensed and can sell to anyone, anywhere; it is up to you to know whether
you can legally own a primate or not; just as obtaining possession of the
Capuchin infant when it is available is truly your responsibility. The trip
to the Veterinarian for a Wellness Exam and Health Certificate, purchasing
an airline approved traveling crate, making the Airline reservations,
getting the Capuchin infant to the Airport and safely boarded . . . . is all
a courtesy I perform for you, the Client; not as a part of the sale, (as I
make absolutely nothing for my time and troubles). In 20+ years, I have
never been unable to fulfill my obligation(s) of providing people their
primate.
I normally do not pull an infant from its' Mom, unless it
is sold.
Therefore, selling by sex is sometimes impossible, because I don't know the
sex until I take it from its' Mother. Once I pull an infant, there is no
giving it back; so, it has to be sold, 'as is', with regards to sex.
Except, when I am in the situation where I could have several infants born
and they would all be sold right away or I have a definite deposit on both
sexes for the next Capuchin infant born.
If you are purchasing a 'child', which is what you are doing,
(and, a
lot of people purchase a Primate for the exact same reason), I feel it
should be a totally natural process. Once you start placing an 'order';
(i.e.: sex, color, etc.); you've taken the suspense and surprise out of it
and turned it into an acquisition.
There is no more demand for one sex over the other. There is not
a
demand for one specie of Capuchin over the others. To each, their own. In
my opinion, the most intelligent and responsive in-home companion primate is
a neutered male 'Brown' Capuchin, (Back-capped or Tufted, doesn't matter).
Which sex? I don't believe the sex really matters, because you
are
going to have your Capuchin altered before it reaches sexual maturity. In
doing so, your primate will never experience 'Nature's Call'; (one can't
miss something it has never had). In altering a primate before it reaches
sexual maturity, you have created an in-home companion pet; regardless of
whether it is a male or a female.
I'll answer your next inquiry before it's formed. I highly
suggest
spaying and/or neutering your companion primate before it reaches adulthood
; definitely before it becomes sexually mature; preferably before it
discovers itself. If your primate is not altered . . . when your primate
becomes sexually mature and nature begins telling it that it needs something
more than your individual time and attention, and your primate realizes that
you cannot fulfill its' inherited primal needs and desires; your primate
will turn into the primate from hell. When you alter any animal, it is
unable to experience hormonal changes. Your intentions are to alter your
Primate before it ever experiences natures' call; therefore, it will never
miss something it has never experienced.
If you wish to come to my facility to pick-up your Capuchin
infant
yourself, come on! About 20% of Primate purchasers actually have the desire
to come pick-up their infant; and, it's only because of convenience and
saving on the airfare. The majority know they want to purchase a Primate
infant, and could care less of how or where the infant was made, so long as
they get theirs. I'm a USDA licensed breeding facility, with an impeccable
reputation, never have caused anyone any grief, and have always been there
for aftercare; which is probably why the few good Sites out there only refer
me.
Verifying my legitimacy is easy. My USDA license is clearly
visible
below and can be verified at USDA:

My address is also listed below, as is my cell phone telephone number. A
lot of personal information available that only a conscientious Breeder
would provide.
Would you like some references; not just for
checking-me-out; but, so
that you can talk to 'real' primate people . . . not 'salesmen'. These same
references are honest primate people. You're doing your homework; so, take
the time and opportunity to e-mail them. Tracy of
http://www.pamperedprimatesandk9s.com
or you can speak to Lisa at http://www.monkeyzone.com, her site is very
informative; or of private
concern. Any of these people are 'historic'
primate owners and can also tell you who to stay away from. Please, before
you send money to anyone, check them out! There are some fancy sites out
there, developed just to catch your eye, {and most don't even own a
primate}, with silver-tongued devils that'll sell a refrigerator to an
Eskimo!
I do maintain a list of people wanting Capuchins; but,
don't want to
send a deposit. Unfortunately, the only time I contact persons on this
list, is when I have fulfilled all of my in-hand deposits or the Client's of
these deposits elect to 'pass' on their Capuchin infant. (Again, let me
restate: If you have placed a deposit with me, you do not loose your deposit
by 'passing' on an available Capuchin infant; I just call you first the next
time a Capuchin infant is born, and give you the first right of refusal,
once again; that's just good business.) When I do have a Capuchin infant
available to offer the General Public; because this waiting list is so
large, I only have to notify the last dozen inquiries or so, before the
Capuchin infant available is spoken for. The bad part about being a part of
this particular list is that everyone on it gets notified about the same
available Capuchin infant at the same time. You can only imagine the
response(s); and, everybody, but one, ends-up disappointed.
If you are serious and have further inquiry and interest, please do not
hesitate to either e-mail me or dial-me-up direct. My address for remitting
a deposit is below my signature.

*Remember, e-mail me back, if you wish to be placed on a list of
notification in the future, should I have Capuchin infants available to the
general public.* |
